Photography Workshop Reviews

"As a hobby photographer, I was looking for something other than a local guide to discover the city of Lisbon. I was looking for someone who could show me the city's hidden gems from a photographer's perspective… THANK YOU Marga… but you succeeded brilliantly. No preparation, nothing mapped out, but you went out with us and showed us Lisbon through your eyes. On a next visit (and that is definitely on the cards), you will certainly hear from us to discover even more of Lisbon."

Andy

"I was gifted a photography workshop from my husband for my birthday after getting a camera for Christmas. I had tried going out and taking photos around Lisboa, but really didn’t understand my camera or how to set up a shot to take good photos. I’m so glad my husband found Marga. She’s such an approachable teacher and I had so much fun spending three hours learning from her and chatting along the way!"

Courtney

"Marga is an absolute gem in the world of travel and photography! I’ve been on a couple of photo walks with Marga and she captures Portugal in a way that blends breathtaking artistry with deep local knowledge. Whether it’s hidden coastal villages, vibrant city streets, or dramatic mountain landscapes, every shot tells a story—and every tip comes from true on-the-ground expertise. If you want to experience Portugal through the eyes of someone who truly knows and loves it, you won’t find anyone better, she’s the person you want by your side when visiting this beautiful country."

Frequently asked questions

Do I need photography experience?

No. Complete beginners are welcome, but the workshop can also be adapted to enthusiastic and experienced photographers.

What kind of camera should I bring?

Bring the camera you normally use and would like to understand better. DSLR, mirrorless, bridge and compact cameras with adjustable settings are all suitable.

Can I bring another participant?

Yes. The workshop price includes one participant. You can add additional participants during online booking for €35 per person for the half-day workshop or €50 per person for the full-day workshop. The workshop can be adapted to different cameras and experience levels, although participants should be comfortable learning together as a group.

Can children join?

Yes. Children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. They should be interested in photography and able to understand and take part in the workshop activities. Every child is different, so there is no fixed minimum age. Please contact me before booking if you are unsure whether the workshop will be suitable.

Will I receive any workshop materials?

Yes. You’ll receive a photography workbook covering the essential basics, which you can use during the workshop and keep for future reference.

What should I bring on the day?

Bring your camera (or smartphone), a fully charged battery, an empty memory card and any lenses you regularly use. Comfortable walking shoes, water and weather-appropriate clothing are also recommended.

How much walking is involved?

The workshop takes place on foot in central Lisbon. The city has hills, steps and cobbled streets, but the route can be adapted where possible. Please mention any mobility concerns before the workshop, and I will happily adapt the route.

Is this a sightseeing tour?

The main focus is photography, and although it's not a formal guided tour, you will see a lot. I’ll naturally share local knowledge and help you discover interesting places to photograph along the way.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain does not always mean the workshop needs to be cancelled, and photography can even be more interesting. We may adapt the route, work in sheltered areas, or change the photography exercises. If conditions are unsuitable, we’ll discuss rescheduling.
